About Poet Section

We like to sit on steps

And we love playing music. Small or Large venues. Parties. And every show is unique.

Roye Abramson - piano / vocals

Since winning his grade school talent show with "Fur Elise," and then winning his Hebrew School talent show playing "Yesterday," Roye's music career has skyrocketed. Known for playing relatively faithful versions of Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Elton John songs, he is, perhaps, best known for his limited dance moves. He is quoted as saying "Ah, it sounds close enough."

In actuality, he is a talented and charming individual with a very sexy voice. Check out his music on Spotfiy, iTunes and YouTube under Roye Abramson. Also, check out his podcast "Tapping In" on Spotify and iTunes as well.

Dean Calderwood - guitar / vocals

Dude plays guitar. And he sings too.

Adam Lowenberg - vocals

Like Freddie but with fewer teeth

Ron Papka - bass

A veteran of the punk scene in NYC from the 1980's having played at CBGB and other East Village venues, Ron continues to hone his craft on his custom five and six string basses.

He played with American Dream, Next, Social Insecurity, Shaved Pigs, Daltonic, Curmudgeon, and now with Poet Section. Recordings of the Shaved Pigs can be found on Apple Music and Spotify.

Tom O'Rourke - drums

The quintessential rock drummer, Tommy isn't shy about banging the skins!

Brian Kaplow - saxophone / keyboard

Brian has the perfect answer to the question "Do you know how to get to Carnegie Hall?" Yup, practice. Having performed at Carnegie Hall and some of the finest bars in New Jersey, Brian enjoys grinding out tunes on his saxophone, and adding an extra layer of goodness to the band with his synth.
